International Open rules

Club d'Escacs Figueres organises the 27th Miquel Mas International Open of Figueres, included in the Catalan International Open Chess Circuit, category B.

The tournament is played at Sala Auditori de Caputxins, Carrer Rec Arnau 8, 17600 Figueres. The venue is air-conditioned and accessible for people with functional diversity.

The first round starts on Sunday 16 August 2026 at 9:30 h.

9-round Swiss system, rapid time control of 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment per move.

The tournament is valid for FIDE rapid rating and FCE rapid rating.

Online registration remains open until 11 August 2026 at 9:30 h.

Registration is not valid until the organisation receives payment. To avoid no-shows, no player who has not paid the entry fee will be allowed to play the first round.

Proof of payment must be sent to openmiquelmas@gmail.com with name, surname and club.

Standard: €25. Over 65: €20. Under-16 and younger categories: €20.

A €5 discount applies to registrations paid by 29 July 2026.

Players without Spanish nationality included in the provisional list must confirm attendance in the hall between 9:00 h and 9:30 h on 16 August.

If they do not confirm attendance, they will be removed from the initial list and will not be paired in the first round.

Tiebreaks will be applied according to the current Federació Catalana d'Escacs rules and the Catalan Circuit regulations.

The final tiebreak order will be published by the organisation before the tournament starts.

During the game it is forbidden to carry a mobile phone or any electronic communication device in the playing area unless it is fully switched off and stored away.

Any unavoidable use for force majeure reasons must be communicated to the arbiter beforehand.

Participation implies full acceptance of the rules.

The organisation reserves the right to modify these rules if justified circumstances or federation instructions make it necessary.
